Agricultural paper bags: seed, grain and fertilizer — three different specs
Why a 25 kg seed bag, a 50 kg grain sack and a fertilizer multiwall are three different engineering problems.
Agricultural paper sacks share a category name but solve three very different problems. Confusing them is the source of most field failures.
Seed bags (10–25 kg)
Premium presentation, often branded with extensive flexo print. Need good print surface (MG or MF kraft, 80–100 g/m²), moderate strength, and reseal capability. Often microperforated for breathability.
Grain sacks (25–50 kg)
Bulk commodity. Strength is everything, cost matters. Standard sack kraft 80–100 g/m², two or three plies, valve-filled. Print is functional, not decorative.
Fertilizer multiwall (25–50 kg)
Fertilizer is hygroscopic and chemically aggressive. Multiwall construction with PE-coated inner ply for moisture barrier, kraft outer plies for strength and print. Wet-strength resins are standard. Compatibility with urea, ammonium and NPK formulations must be tested.
